Greatest Battle Rages As U S Poises On Verge Of War

Kenneth Irwin of Williston died in a rear end collision on the Great Northern while two freights clashed, leaving engine and caboose wrecked. Engineer Sullivan, brakemen Heine and Remington injured. Irwin’s funeral planned. The wreck, caused during a water stop, disrupted eastbound freight service for hours. Irwin, 25, a local railroad man, left a $2000 insurance and was buried in Williston. The Williams County State Bank reached over a million dollars in deposits after consolidation.

Williston to Host North Norwegian Convention Meet

Williston will host the Nordfjordiazet convention this summer, a three day event expected to draw 600 delegates and visitors from North Dakota Minnesota Montana and Canada. Peter Grandfur Barney Hole from Wheelock are coordinating dates with local parties while the Sons of Norway and city lodges plan activities including a big picnic and possible North Dakota Norwegian team ball game. President Elias Rake of Minneapolis and other national figures will participate in business and entertainment programs. Minot failed to land the meeting.

Will Improve Court House with Interior Cleaning and Floors

The board of commissioners invited bids for court house improvements including interior wall cleaning and new first floor flooring. Bids are to be opened at the next meeting, with work hoped to begin soon. A state aid step may follow the submission of plans to the state commission.

American Lady shines in Williston armory show

The Williston Knights of Columbus presented American Lady at the Armory Saturday to a large crowd.
