Court adjourns with fewer cases on docket and whisky seizure at Louisville

The court adjourned with 193 cases left to argue from a docket of 432, a smaller carryover than in years. A deputy revenue collector seized 60,000 barrels of whisky at White Mills Distillery in Louisville, valued around 500000, alleging equalizing by replacing old whisky with spirits.

Valley City Plans Three Day Fourth of July Celebration

Valley City raises about 2000 for a three day Fourth of July event with a gun club tourney offering 250 in prize money on July 2 and 3, a farmers picnic and G A R campfire on the 3rd, and an oration by Mr. Cochran of Grand Forks. The celebration includes barbecue, baseball and other sports, plus fireworks. The town anticipates substantial construction including two normal school buildings for 19900, a 25000 hotel addition at Kindred, a 10000 armory for Company G, and many residences. A Courtenay woman barely stopped a kerosene fire. L H Patten, of Larimore, claims a railway mail crane patent. A Towner man notes rapid hop vine growth at an inch per hour.
