Budd Jackson and local notes from down home town
Budd Jackson faced Hoffland last Sunday with the ball nine and praised the country and its people. A new sheriff seems ready to handle a man bigger than himself, with reports he threw a two hundred pounder from his buggy. Len Coulter visited with a witch lingled bush to show where the Dairy Co. can dig for water, pointing to a creek. W. S. Dunn eyes a Fourth foot pace win as practice increases and a hen causes a yard sprint routine.

Williams County North Dakota A Vast Frontier For Settlers
Williams County lies in the extreme northwest of North Dakota with the Missouri River along its southern boundary and about 250 miles of river frontage. It covers nearly 4500 square miles and embraces about 3 million acres of fertile farming and grazing land subject to homestead entry. The county sits atop extensive lignite coal in strata up to twenty feet thick, with soil rich and irrigation practical and cheap. Cereals and vegetables thrive, and stock-raising is strong with hay and shelter along the Missouri and interior streams. Williston, the county seat, sits on the Great Northern Railroad by the Missouri, boasting two hotels, six stores, a saw mill, blacksmiths, meat markets, newspapers, a bank, churches, schools, a brick courthouse, and ample building and craft shops. Williston is the railroad freight hub with a 20-stall roundhouse, coal shed, storehouse, and repair shop, its business volume said to exceed other towns on the Great Northern west of Grand Forks.
