Clonfert Cathedral and St Brandon the Navigator
A historical note discusses Canon Robert McLarney’s claim that St Brandon the Navigator evangelized parts of America 900 years before Columbus. It recounts Clonfert cathedral’s long history, its age old doorway and east window, and a claim that St Brandon was buried there. It also mentions Clonfert’s past burns and teeming schools, with references to Irish and English medieval events.
