Garden Valley Literary Meet and Fourth News Roundup

Garden Valley Literary plans a Saturday meeting on July 9 at 9 pm. Miss Olive Howitt of Buford visited the valley for the Fourth, hosted by Alberta Francis. Many notes on Good Roads Day, Hedderich ranch celebration, local health and crop conditions, and tree planting efforts by Louis Dahl with 1500 trees three years old and more ordered for next spring.

Local residents spotted at various sites across Williston and nearby towns

Lynda Ea Sutton and Hiram Walker were at the coal mine last Saturday. Cleve Sage and Miss Vera Seeley were seen at the Candy Kitchen in Williston Saturday. Teachers Institute attendance included Miss Mary Dardis and Miss Maybelle Arndt. Charley Bergstrom and Miss Arndt were in the neighborhood this week. Mr and Mrs D A Abernethy drove to Williston Saturday morning and back in the evening. Crops near Minot reportedly burnt by hot winds and farmers plan to plow and plant corn. Mr and Mrs Nustad returned to Westby Wisconsin after visiting their son Ed Nustad. J Onstad and wife were at Bone Trails Monday. A Johnson of Squires visited Williston Saturday. Herman Skoberg visited Ed Hillstad's Friday evening. Hans Hillstad and wife drove to Williston Friday. Ed Sutton was in town Thursday. Crops look good after a brief rain Wednesday night.

Louis Dahl attended the election at Wild Rose Schoolhouse last Wednesday and had dinner with C. Arnt and his wife. Township 156 R100 and Township 156 B99 supervisors met at Chas Ekkerte’s home to discuss dividing the township line. A Rossvold and wife drove out Tuesday to exercise their team and visited Mr and Mrs Dehl. Crist Lee went to Epping on Saturday. Ben Brekke’s brother from Devils Lake arrived Friday for a visit.

Spring Coulee Weather Boosts Wheat Hay Efforts

Very warm dry conditions in Spring Coulee have farmers cutting wheat for hay. Rev F B Hollett of Williston will start biweekly meetings in the schoolhouse and organize a Sunday school from July 17 at 2 pm. Local residents attended events in Williston and haying preparations begin amid a barn fire at A Hyatt's ranch and a nearby hay stack. Mr Dicker plans to relinquish the Gambetta post office due to other duties.
