Town of Williston board met in regular session with Trustees Baldwin and Ausan present. Bills for M Harvey and E A Sharpe examined and allowed. other bills approved for justice fees and marshal fees. motion to abstain from framing any ordinance licensing temperance drinks passed.
Six tramps entered the Southern railway telegraph office near Alexandria Fredericksburg crossing and demanded to flag the southbound Chesapeake and Ohio train. Telegraph operator James Cox repelled the assault, using a revolver and razor to hold six men at bay and telegraph for help. Four fled, two were captured and locked aboard an engine bound for Alexandria. the others disappeared into the night. Police searched the surrounding area but found no trace of the remaining four.
