A June week in San Francisco draws four governors including Ralston of Indiana Hanna of North Dakota and the Iowa governor for a Wednesday conference on state affairs. The fair features a French exhibit notable gowns and a Bryan appearance planned for July 6.

Storms across North Dakota and Minnesota killed four people and damaged property in eight districts. One fatality occurred near Baldkin when farmer Thomas Lenihan and his daughter Nora were struck by lightning. Grand Forks reported heavy rainfall up to 2.15 inches with flooding along Red River and multiple towns affected. Damaged infrastructure included dynamited dams and disrupted telephone and telegraph service across the region.
Near beer saloons closed and police kept stations as militia guarded Governor Slaton’s home to prevent protests over Leo M. Frank’s death sentence. Slaton’s term ends, crowds mark Harris inauguration. city patrols intensify around Staton and his house. Slaton defends his decision, noting statewide and national expressions of approval and respect for due process. Seats for Richards and Prinzie’s Minstrels on sale at Rather’s with show July 5.
Grand Forks, June 26. The post office at Buxton near Hillsboro was entered early this morning. Robbers used explosives to blow the safe, taking a registered package worth $2,100 plus $25 cash and $30 in stamps. No clues on the perpetrators. The office clock stopped at 2 17. Stamps were found north of town, suggesting a northerly escape. Police notified in Fargo Grand Forks and other cities, but no description available.
Miss Elizabeth McGowan of Riverview ends a nine month term with a program and report cards. Pupils receive attendance certificates, then enjoy a long picnic under trees with a meal prepared by the teacher. Contests include foot races three legged races egg races and pie eating with prizes.

Berlin June 26. The board of directors of the Social Democratic Party in Germany published a full page appeal for peace. It states the people want peace and urges the government to show readiness to negotiate. It notes socialists foresaw war, sought peace, then offered service to the fatherland and calls on socialists in belligerent lands to influence their governments toward peace.
Rev Halfpenny will preach at Wild Rose schoolhouse at 9 AM and Summit schoolhouse at 1:30 PM. Additional services at Summit at 3 PM and at 88 schoolhouse at 11 AM, with an event listed for Sunday.
H. H. Steele of the State Tax Commission visited the city to gather data on actual land values. The effort aims to help the board of equalization compare assessments statewide, with Cass county at 7.56 per acre and Williams county at 3.31, while local values run 12 to 15 dollars.

Fargo June 24 court declined to name a receiver at this time delaying the injunction hearing to the final Sept term. Judge Pollock explained the action and emphasized the decision is not a trial but a preliminary step to determine if a temporary order is needed before cross examination.
A three year old girl, Rosalind Beisel of Marley, rode in a wagon with her father as he hauled fence materials. A trailing wire spooked the horses, the wagon lurched, and they ran a mile before stopping. The child remained calm, calling for her mother, while her father retrieved them and the incident ended without injury. A separate note reports George E. Spears, formerly of Minneapolis, visiting Sions City, Illinois, performing in the Great Northern billiard parlors with noted skill.
Six skeletons found under the Butler home near Shawnee reveal five members of a family killed together in one hole and a lone male victim buried ten feet away. Neighbors recall no missing persons, and Butler lived withdrawn as a hermit on his Niagara farm. The murders date within the past two decades, with evidence suggesting the same weapon and staged burial.
A severe storm near NLD on June 26 killed a one year old boy and mangled his body. The head was badly mashed by the bolt and most of his clothes were torn from him. He had been taking shelter beside a building when the accident occurred while on the road nearby.
