Pontoon Bridge Spans Missouri River Built 1916
The Pontoon Bridge, one of the few spans over the Missouri River, was built by the Missouri River Bridge Company in September 1916 and has served two counties. Pontoons are being steamed loose from ice and removed until spring breakup. Next season an overhead cable between two 75 foot towers will support it. Iron sheathing will strengthen boats to withstand ice and strain.
