City Schools News Highlights Six Members Conducted by

News items from February 13 1901 report irregular attendance at city schools. Notes include Fern Foes visiting Michigan City with her mother after six weeks away, Johnny Heffernan absent due to a sore throat, and various classroom activities. The Second Primary and Intermediate grades held exams, grammar and arithmetic lessons featured, and enrollment reached 48. Several students changed rooms, calisthenics drills were planned, and a Valentine craft effort engaged Second Primary pupils. Local church notices, social events, and a few family movements are listed. A Spokane line accident near Northport Spokane resulted in one death and multiple injuries. Archie Newell survived a near-fatal jump to avoid collision.
