Stice and Jensen, Maxwell dealers from Maxwell, returned from the Minneapolis Auto Show with rich hospitality tales. The firm exhibited in the armory hall and a special showroom for dealers and friends, featuring Spanish wall art and indirect lighting to create a homey feel. Over 300 orders for Maxwell cars were taken, with February shipments rising from one to four carloads. The company hosted engineers, showed the film From Molten Steel To Automobile, and held a Friday banquet that impressed even rivals. Maxwell headquarters doubled as a social hub, with refreshments, lunches, smokes, pennants, and open-house hospitality extending to police and streetcar staff. The dealers spread the Maxwell gospel as they returned home.

Rebels Surrender to British Forces in Upington
Pretoria reports that rebel leader Bezudensout and the so called prophet Vankensburg surrendered to British forces with Lieut Col Kemp and 40 officers and 500 burghers at Upington. Kemp and 500 burghers are due to reach Pretoria, signaling an end to the uprising. Maritz is expected to surrender soon.

Elevator bills spark action in Bismarck session
In Bismarck on February 8, Representative Everson opened three bills including a reform to put the board of control of penal and charitable institutions under the governor and senate confirmation, a measure requiring duplicate physician prescriptions translated for public understanding, and moving county officer exams away from the state examiner. A concurrent resolution urged Congress to ban arms shipments to wartime nations. Burnett of Traill introduced a terminal elevator bill placing it under railroad commission control with funding and an emergency clause, plus a rail fare bill limiting passenger trains to twenty miles per hour and two cents per mile. Another education bill placed schools under control for expenditures, and the Degree of Honor planned a dance at Odd Fellows Hall on February 19 with music by the Rygge Orchestra. Dancing at nine, admission one dollar.
