Land District Bill Passes the Senate

Washington D C Feb 3 Senator Hansbroughs bill creating a new land district with headquarters at Williston passed the senate today. There is gladness in Williston while Minot protests seek to block the measure. Supporters argue the district will ease settler needs and boost trade. Minot worries over loss of business and retains its own office.

McGahan Takes Charge as Minot Land Office Head

L D McGahan was appointed Register of the U S Land Office at Minot and began duties February 1, succeeding R C Sanborn. A longtime North Dakota resident and former newspaper publisher, McGahan has lived in the state over 25 years and earned broad local support.

Conductor Charles Quinn of Great Northern Dies

Conductor Charles Quinn, long time Great Northern freight conductor between Williston and Minot, died Friday after injuries from the Columbia Falls wreck. Funeral held Sunday at Havre. He leaves a wife and one infant child and was a well known longtime railroad employee.

Death of Mrs Krusa in Williston

Mrs Martha a Krussa died at her daughter Mrs Minnie Belll inger s home in Williston last Friday evening. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church with Rev H M Callecod delivering the sermon. A longtime resident since arriving from Germany in 1830 she had lived in Detroit and Minnesota before moving to Williston. She leaves four children including one son and three daughters. daughter Bertha Huntos h arrived from Bermdige to attend the funeral.

Change of Managers at Bovey Shute Lumber Yard

Bovey Shute Lumber announces a management change with Hubert Shuttleworth taking over from E Hesness after more than two years. Shuttleworth, a married man, will relocate his family here this week. Hesness departs to visit the old country. Mr Van Bleck, the company traveling auditor, was in town to help start the new manager.
