Butcher Hankey Passes Away in Hotel Room

Hankey Hankey a 53 year old Plentywood Montana butcher died suddenly after entering his hotel room at the Great Northern Hotel around 9 o clock last Saturday night. He had been in good health and was visiting his brother near Tioga for Christmas when he fainted. Local physician could not revive him. The night clerk, Harry Peyton, assisted the arriving wife and physician.

J Earl Barrington of Williston to star as the interlocutor in the Elks big Minstrel show slated for January 8 and 4. Barrington, with extensive theatre experience, will head the middleman role while rehearsals begin tonight at Gates Hall and seats go on sale December 30 at Kathers.

North Dakota Lignite Mining Expands Rapidly

Lignite coal mining in western North Dakota shows 14 times higher tonnage this year than 1911 under state engineer T R Atkinson. There are 105 mines employing about 1300 year round and 1700 in winter with no mining fatalities and few accidents. Rail access may propel lignite to become a major state industry. North Dakota Auto Show Dates Set in Grand Forks

Dates February 18 to 21 were chosen for North Dakota’s third annual auto show under the Grand Forks Automobile Dealers Association. The event, held in Grand Forks Auditorium with 11 440 square feet of floor space and a large gallery, promises strong dealer and public interest. The Arne Amundson case, slated for Crosby county, collapsed when the principal witness refused to testify citing self incrimination. The city now uses electricity from the Government Irrigation plant after a day of no power or light during the switch. Connections were completed in one day and lights returned Thursday evening. The change has noticeably improved service.

Moeller Convicted in Ward County Murder Case

Dr. Thor Moeller, once of Minot and now of Velva, has been sentenced to ten years in the state penitentiary at Bismarck for the murder of Gina Lien, a Loraine N. D. music teacher, four years ago. The North Dakota Supreme Court upheld the ruling of Judge KE Leighton, finalizing a dramatic criminal case in Ward County. Moeller, a former Minot physician, may begin serving soon following his long legal battle.

Baby born on twelfth day in twelfth month at Luxemberg

In St. Cloud Minnesota on December 19 a family Bible entry records the birth of a baby boy to Mr and Mrs Matin Solkog of Luxemberg town. He is the twelfth child, weighed twelve pounds, and was born on the twelfth day of the twelfth month in 191%.
