Edgar L. Mason aged about 40, a farmer six miles west of Williston, was killed when a dirt chunk buried him and his partner Hanson at the mine mouth after dinner. Hanson escaped and Mason's body was taken to South Bend Indiana for burial. Mason left a wife and two children.
Tuesday morning patrons found the Globe store locked with a posted notice stating that the store had failed Dudley L Nash attorney of White Earth is receiver and has taken charge of the stock Frank Brothers also operated a store in Minot which is closed The Globe opened recently in the Stewart block.
The Watertown Public Opinion says some express firms pay cash only at designated points, sending most cash to metropolitan centers. It urges the public to stop buying express money orders and use bank drafts to keep funds at home.
The North Dakota Legislature created a Grain commission board to be appointed by the governor. Governor Burke named A. E. Thompson Rolla E. D. Washburn Hope and M. Hall Mohall to the board, now pursuing duties to examine dockage weighing and grading systems and assess terminal grain storage options in Minneapolis Duluth or Superior and related costs. The board is handling several alleged discriminations in dockage and weighing.
State grain producers board asks every North Dakota newspaper to publish the notice to reach any rightful complainants. Derwin Smith seven an only child of Mr and Mrs Chas Smith died Monday from effects of liquor he drank Sunday morning the bottle was on the kitchen table and he drank most of it the parents first thought he was playing and only realized the danger when he became unconscious and convulsed later the family drove ten miles to town for medical aid but he died that evening.
A Tuesday evening bowling event at Citizens Bowling alley drew twelve contestants. T. B. Haughanout won first place, S. K. Phillips took second, and Walter McAllister finished third. The contests are growing in popularity among young men with improving scores.
The Supreme Court rules North Dakota 1905 statutes on adulteration of white lead and mixed paints are constitutional. Heath and Milligan Manufacturing Co. sued J H Worst, testing the law’s validity. Justice McKenna delivers the opinion, affirming the circuit court decision.
The Delicatessen Cafe owned by R N Wilson and W W Weygandt opened yesterday at noon. It operates on the European plan in Wilson's new brick block with fine furnishings and promises first class service.
Washington reports southern Republican leaders predict Roosevelt will be renominated and forced to accept. Colonel Cecil Lyon of Texas backs the plan and says no event can prevent Roosevelt's candidacy. Delegations from the South, Pacific coast, and other regions are expected to back Roosevelt.
