Martin Loughland Buried at Hofflund
Funeral services for Martin Laughland who died at his Nelson Valley home on November 29 were held December 1. The Hofflund Lutheran pastor led the service and interment followed at Hoffland cemetery. Born in Sundring England in 1850 he came to this country twelve years ago and farmed a 320 acre plot in Nelson Valley. His death at age 66 shocked many friends and neighbors.

Shower For December Bride Gathers City Court House Staff
A surprise shower for Miss Helen Oveson, a December bride, was hosted Tuesday evening at Miss Crow's home by Miss Margaret Monroe, Miss Lena Crow, Miss Clara Newton, and Miss May Bell. The event featured a staged wedding match as lights came on to reveal a party of court house staff and friends, with gifts of glass china and linen and a pleasant lunch to close.

City commission approves bills and gravel project plan
At the Monday meeting the city commission allowed bills and made final payment to contractors for the White Way job, with a partial payment for street graveling. The Commercial club and city plan a gravel surfaced lane road about a mile north of town, planned to be done by Foster and Hanna, weather permitting into spring.

Bridge Restored as Ice Fears Subside
The pontoon bridge, kept open to deter floating ice, is back in place as the river freezes over with only brief open stretches. Officials hope this ends ice troubles for the fall season.

Four Hundred Aboard Special Heads to Chicago
More than 400 North Dakota farmers aboard two sections left Fargo early this morning for the International Livestock Show in Chicago. They will spend today in St Paul and tomorrow in Madison before arriving in Chicago on Thursday with return plans starting Saturday evening. The trip included a Grand Forks reception by the Commercial club. Governor Burnquist, Mayor Irvin, Governor-elect Lynn J. Frazier, and W. H. Oppenheimer spoke at a St Paul luncheon welcoming the group.
