Henry Zimmerman, a wealthy farmer from Brooklyn Center Hennepin County, reports his 15 year old daughter Lizzie missing since Aug 13. He fears kidnapping for ransom after strangers questioned his family and house not long before. He offers a reward for her safe return.
A district court ruling nullified the park board’s land assessments for the Winona lake side drive and granted damages to property owners. The decision requires a new method to secure the proposed park system.
Milwaukee August 27 The Wisconsin Malleable Iron company offers an option on its plant to Eastern men forming a nationwide merger of malleable iron foundries. President W H Osborne refused to name the price until the promoters confirm interest and terms.
Private T B Hanson of Ashland company, National Guard, jailed in Eau Claire after allegedly entering a hotel intoxicated and attacking Reynolds McAllister, owner of the hotel. McAllister sustained head and hip injuries and facial lacerations, leaving him unconscious and confined to bed. Hanson held to await results.
First National Bank of Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported a Sunday night robbery totaling 3800 dollars in silver dollars. Suspects entered the basement then moved to the vault area but did not open the steel chest, with sacks of silver found in the vault. A second item notes Harry Vaughn, Milwaukee Brewers right fielder, involved in a late night altercation at the Mitchell hotel in Peoria, injuring proprietor W Mitchell in the hand. police report arrests pending.
A mob of about 3,000 strikers assaults a special officer while trying to rescue his son. The officer is stabbed in the breast and kicked, then struck on the head with a stone. His injuries are not serious. The attack halts work at the mine.

In Marshall county three individuals Miss Cecelia Gilbertson John A Peterson and Thomas Anntrom were arrested on perjury charges connected to testimony given in May before a US commissioner at Sisseton regarding Miss Gilbertsons homestead final proof claim. Also notes Cass Lake land dispute inquiries and Nome news from Alaska with mining outlook and local sentiment.
Chicago Aug 27 a new pact among Western railroad traffic officials pledges to implement the agreed grain rate increase on Sept 15 based on July accord. The Interstate Commerce Commission may probe the Aug 16 delay and a St Paul Minneapolis to East hearing opens Sept. Some officials may take September vacations for health reasons amid the pace of rate actions.
In Tremaleau Wisconsin on August 27 the steamer J. S. carrying 2200 excursionists from Winona to La Crosse ran aground on a Mississippi sand bar fourteen miles below Tremaleau. It was to arrive by six p m but was overdue and crowds gathered on the levee awaiting news. A Dresbach telegram said there was little chance of freeing the boat before morning.
London reports a Durban cargo burst open revealing sabers and swords mislabeled as saddlery. The items were shipped by an English firm to a Transvaal firm and an inquiry is under way. Also in Raleigh a lynching occurred after Tom Jones, a Black man, was accused of assaulting Mrs. William Smith near Seven Springs, causing her death.
Fargo report says Frank Gore don and Mike Finn pleaded guilty to burglarizing J. F. Sullivan’s general store in Durbin. Seven men were arrested. two years’ imprisonment for Gordon and Finn. Other suspects await pleas.
Sioux Falls August Saturday report notes Assistant U S Attorney Porter moved to proceed in the States versus Samuel F Bullis alias Samuel F Bradley charged with the Frankfort post office robbery on the night of October 5 1901. The government moved to dismiss but was denied.
