Willie Monroe Becomes Full Fledged Engineer

Willie Monroe passed a successful locomotive engineer examination and on August 24 1903 began on engine No 526 from Glasgow to Williston. Raised in Williston, he rose through Great Northern railway ranks to become a road foreman and now a locomotive engineer. His mother and friends extend congratulations on this crowning achievement.

The August 25 1902 market notes report a top price for Grass Range Steers of 1233 pounds averaging 4.75 per cwt, with 1000 pound cows sold at 3.50 per cwt. Grantier Newman and Beaty Bros are named among local sellers. Additional items announce a moving picture show, office fixtures shipment, and a woolen goods sale beginning August 27 for one week.
