The Hotel Columbia, a brick edifice by Mr. UE Bergh, opened to the public Monday at the corner of St street and Cates avenue. It is one block west of the Great Northern hotel and can accommodate city guests. the rooms are bright and neatly furnished with new outfits.

Death of Surgeon Paul Clendenin in Santiago de Cuba
Surgeon Paul Clendenin, son in law of Colonel Lounsberry of the Revard, died of yellow fever on July 4 1809 in the hospital at Santiago de Cuba where he served as charge. His daughter Hylen also contracted the disease but recovered. The younger daughter Dorothea will now reside with grandmother Mrs. Lounsberry as recorded by Colonel Lounsberry.
