The Home Hut Club plans a large June 12 reception at the new Community Hall to honor returning soldiers. Schoenbeck's orchestra from Danville and La Fayette talent will perform, with free banqueting served by War Mothers and dancing after. Obituary for Dan Emire of Kramer
Dan Emire aged 79 long resident of Kramer died at the home of George Cameron last Sunday. Born in Ohio on December 10, 1840 he suffered a paralytic stroke two years ago and lived mostly bedbound. Twice married his first wife died. he married Lettie Swan on April 4, 1910 who survives him. A Methodist and Sunday School devotee, the funeral was led by the Grand Army of the Republic at West Lebanon M E Church with burial in West Lebanon cemetery.

Fred Smiths peanut and pop corn wagon caught fire Monday afternoon due to a leak in the fuel line. A chemical extinguisher from Correll and Boyd’s store checked the blaze after it reached the gasoline tank. Damage was about 75 dollars.

Fire at Benton County Infirmary Near Oxford Wrecks Main Building
The main building of Benton County infirmary, two miles northwest of Oxford, burned Friday with an estimated loss of 45000. No injuries. inmates from the insane ward were rescued. Mrs. Mount, wife of the superintendent, fainted during rescues and is under physician care. Insanity ward fire origin, possible matches by patients. Fire crews from Fowler and Oxford aided. inmates moved to Fowler jail and homes nearby. A modern replacement will be built.

Attica Man Overcome In Cistern Incident
Elvin Light of Attica became unconscious while finishing a cistern at the William Cambden home on Wednesday after inhaling a gas from a drugstore supplied slush. Neighbor Raymond Buckles alerted help. Mrs Melvin Cottingham and Leroy Light assisted in rescuing him and reviving him.
