Warren county farmer Harry Abolt, living northeast of town, was injured Monday at milking time when a fretful cow kicked him and another animal trod on him. He dragged himself clear but sustained a fractured rib and hoof print marks on the chest. injuries are painful but not serious.

Tab Transaction in Court Over Farm Valuation Suit
The Fountain circuit court spent much of last week on the civil suit Mayhew versus Jewell over an $18 500 versus $14 000 business deal in Tab. The Mayhews sold a Tab store to Jewell taking a 14000 farm in Allen county as part payment. Jewell defaulted on two notes summing 2300 prompting a bid to revise the contract and secure notes with a chattel mortgage. Attorneys for both sides presented witnesses from Fort Wayne to Williamsport. Judge Ratcliff had not yet ruled by yesterday.

Cornelius McCabe, 64, a farmer living near Rainsville, died at 3 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth's hospital Lafayette from heart failure after long hospital stay. He was born in the state and survived by brothers Patrick of Attica and John of Danville Illinois. A St Patrick's church Oxford communicant, he was buried Wednesday at St Patrick's cemetery after services at 9 a.m. at St Patrick's church Oxford.

Mrs Frank Buckles widow of a local resident dies at her son Bert’s home in Los Angeles California. She is a sister of the late Susan Ross of Pine Village and was well known in the county’s north part. Mrs. Smalley Dies in Sheldon After Long Illness
Mrs. David Smalley died at her Sheldon Illinois home on Wednesday March 14 after weeks of illness. The Smalleys married October 3 1860 and celebrated their 62nd anniversary October 3. They moved to Iroquois county in 1873 from Warren county and had eight children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral held at the Christian church Friday at 2 pm.

Potatoes best when set just after 40 degree temperature in mid April, with April plantings averaging 124.4 bushels per acre and early June plantings 76.2 bushels per acre, while later dates declined.
