Pine Village sport figure joins Utah mining venture

Claire Rhode a noted Pine Village sportsman and farmer sails to Marysville Utah with Purdue chemist Prof J G Mahin and Dick King to sample United States Aluminum Potash mine said to host rich reserves. The venture girds a $3 million Utah company with FE Hanson as president. stockholders spread across Tippecanoe and neighboring counties. The group predicts untold opportunities and awaits the chemist’s verdict.

St Patrick Day luncheon hosted by Mrs Bowlus at her country home

The Methu selah Club celebrated St Patrick's Day with a luncheon at Mrs Jason Bowlus's country home. A turkey dinner with all accompaniments was served at noon and green decor highlight the event. Irish rhymes and poems followed, with place cards assigning Gaelic nicknames to each guest.

Golden Wedding for Warren County Pair in Attica

Mr and Mrs John James longtime Warren County residents now in Attica celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a dinner for about fifty guests. Attending were their daughter Mrs James Mathers and three children Joan Mathers Mrs George May and Mrs Marion Aciendaisy plus four grandchildren. Local guests included Mrs Joan Bader and daughter of Springfield Ohio Mrs Jennie Mc Adams of Lafayette Mr and Mrs William Cowell and Mrs M J Cowvill of this city and Henry Thompson of Danville.

Three Deaths in Short Time Reported in City

Mrs. Hannah Stockard of this city died last Friday after a short illness at St. Elizabeth hospital Danville while visiting her daughter Mrs. Onie Baker. Baker and her family were sick and Stockard fell ill on the day of her granddaughter's funeral. Stockard's body was taken to Philo for burial. Last Sunday Mrs. Baker died and was buried at Ogden. The Baker husband is gravely ill. she leaves a husband, two other children, a small son, and a nine day old baby.

Farmers to Meet at Carbondale in Liberty Township

The Farmers Organization of Liberty township will meet at Carbondale church Thursday night April first at 7 30. Main business is to organize a poultry club for boys and girls. Parents should discuss with children and attend for full club details. Ladies Aid serves supper.

Mrs Ella V Brown Dies at Greensburg Home

Mrs Ella V Brown died Friday at the Odd Fellows Home in Greensburg from a complication of diseases. She was 66 and formerly lived in Independence. Surviving are her son Victor and two sons Clifford of Chicago and Albert of Parsons Kansas, plus sister Mrs Alice Bullihan of Mollusk Virginia. Body returned to Independence Saturday and funeral held Sunday.

Scholarships for Local Boys at DePauw University

The Chicago donor Edward Rector funds one hundred DePauw University scholarships for Indiana high school graduates. The local high school has earned one award pledge. winners receive four years of tuition and fees paid plus loan fund access. Names of recipients will be announced at year end.

Williamsport to Open Drive In Service Station

A new Consumers Service Stations drive in outlet near Third and Monroe streets in Williamsport is nearing completion. Construction is nearly done with exterior shaping and painting under way and equipment being installed for opening in a few weeks. The station is part of a 150 site chain serving Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Iowa. It features glass barrel pumps and modern devices for handling petroleum products and related auto supplies.
