The Victory Fund campaign launches nationwide on the first Sunday in March with 130,000 canvassers visiting every Presbyterian in the United States between two and five. Funds will support returning soldiers and sailors aid, European reconstruction, overseas missions, temperance efforts, disabled preachers, preacher salaries, and educational and religious programs for communities nationwide.

Tragic death of Thelma Ruth Crane after fall
Thelma Ruth Crane youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Cecil Crane died at her grandparents home near Independence on Sunday from injuries sustained a week earlier. She was born June 26 1918 and is survived by her parents a sister Ivy Loreen and grandparents. Funeral services were held at the parental home Monday afternoon with interment at Independence.

Harper Safe Cracked in Store Burglary
The safe at A. W. Harper’s store was forced Sunday night. The burglars took only three or four dollars in pennies and dumped papers from the strongbox outside the door. The inner lock was punched and the lock drawer smashed as they ransacked the store seeking valuables. Local suspect believed to be familiar with the surroundings.

Sheriff Seizes 1200 Pints and Whiskey Near State Line
Sheriff Stewart disposed of 1200 pint bottles of beer and two cases of whiskey seized when a truckload of booze was intercepted near the state line last Wednesday. Joe Vandercroff of West Point faced Judge Berry and pleaded guilty to bringing wet goods into a dry territory, paying a $100 fine plus costs totaling about $150.
