Cecil Hilton and his wife Hulda Hilton caused a drunken disturbance on Third street. They arrived from Danville in a horse drawn wagon, were taken into custody after a tavern melee, fined for drunkenness, and used a mortgage note as collateral due to lack of funds. Manuel I Clingler a 35 year old farmer of Battle Ground marries Amelia J Fix of Judyville in the city clerk’s office. The rain Tuesday aided farmers though oats may have suffered minor wind damage. Mrs Vera Scifres and son of Judyville passed through en route to Crothersville to visit relatives. Mrs Minerva Hurd of East Liberty returned home after a month with her son Bert Hurd. George Blind of Pine Village conducted business in town.
News notes report a two vehicle collision near West Lenanen injuring Mrs Moffit and Mrs Pribble as Attica gears up for August 11 19 chautauqua with Bryan and Rankin headlining. Congress member Chandler and Waikiki Hawaiians featured alongside all star vaudeville and a county teachers institute planned.
David L. Worthington and Miss Bde Frances Crane were married last Saturday in Pine Village by Rev. Wo El Hole. The groom, 22, is a farmer and son of John Worthington from Tennessee. The bride, 18, is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crane of Winthrop County. They will live on a farm northeast of Winthrop.
