Williamsport plans a five day chautauqua starting Wednesday next week in Cozad grove. The event is backed by twenty five guarantors who have engaged the Mutual Chautauqua and Lyceum System of Chicago known for top tier talent. If arrangements shift the big tent may move, but the starting date is set for Wednesday.
The program runs July 28 to August 1 with the Ricketts Glee Club opening and a Junior Chautauqua forenoon pageant led by a play leader. Dr John H McLaren of California speaks on His Majesty the Man, followed by performances by the Hamilton Trio and William Sterling Battis in Dickens characterizations. The Smith Springs Holmes quintette closes with a strong US tour record and diverse musical offerings.
Doctor McLaren dubbed the dramatic orator of California will talk on America the Supreme World Power. Maynard Lee Dagey, former head of Washington University oratory, will follow with a practical schools program. Lenzo's Wizard Band leads a full Saturday afternoon concert with mobile trios and sereners, ending with a Junior Pageant. Sunday features June Shott and the Sipher Schwartz Co opening the final day, highlighting global history and ambitions.
The Ricketts Glee Club and Miss Elliott showcase a strong record with eight years of training. The Sipher Schwartz Co. presents an instrument rich program followed by Julian B. Arnold, noted author and traveler, in a night urging parental attendance for educational uplift through chautauqua.
