Large Cross Burned by Ku Klux Klan at Levee Hill
A massive roughly 50 foot cross was burned by the Ku Klux Klan Monday night at the top of Levee Hill across the river from Attica. Explosives accompanied the lighting to announce the event and drew many spectators. Three K’s stood at the cross points and about 15 gallons of coal oil saturated the frame before ignition.

Auto goes over levee near Winthrop
Robert Hoskins and family from near Winthrop drove a Ford touring car over the Attica hill levee Monday afternoon after a broken radius rod sent the vehicle over the north-side posts. The family escaped with only minor injuries and no broken bones, though the car was badly damaged.

Wallace Arechart of the Madaus farm near Johnsonville broke the bone below the knee on Christmas Eve when a horse kicked him as another horse bolted from a barn. Dr Lakin treated the injury and planned X rays at Lake View hospital where Arechart rested after transfer with his brother.
