The Danville court room heard Grace Whitman and Martha Holtz convicted of murdering Walter J. Whitman. The jury fixed 14 years for Whitman and 20 years for Holtz after nearly seventy hours of deliberation.
Adelia Lawson formerly of North Warren died Sunday morning at 7 in her Richmond California home. She was born December 13, 1852 and survived by her husband, two children Ernest Grey and Berda Lawson Paris. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 PM in Richmond cemetery with sympathy offered to Ernest Grey.
Herschel Dickerson 21 of Danville Illinois and Eugenia Tarrant 19 of Catlin Illinois were married in the city Friday by Rev. W. F. Hoot.
Mr and Mrs H H Bertrand were in Attica on Tuesday for unspecified reasons, with local residents noting their appearance in town.
Barnett O Kane died December 14 at Elgin State Hospital after surgery for acute peritonitis. He was 62, son of James and Alice O Kane, and had lived with his sister Charlotte at 736 Root Street Chicago. Surviving siblings include Edward who died November 29 and Mary of Hedrick Indiana. Body moved from Sloan Indiana to Hedrick then Dunnington Church for High Mass by Rev Father Beegle and burial in Dunnington Cemetery.
Mrs. D. F. Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Clifton of Covington died at her Covington home Sunday morning at 9. Her marriage linked her with Covington. she taught in Pine Village schools before marriage. Funeral Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the home with Rev. R. B. Kern officiating. Survived by husband, her parents and one brother Cooper Clifton of Covington.
The Covington orchestra will present a concert at the Presbyterian church in Williamsport on Tuesday evening December 30 with violin soloist Oscar Kaufman. The program is under the Ladies Missionary Society and admission is 35 and 50 cents. Mr and Mrs S M Harris were Attica visitors Tuesday afternoon.

Ira F. Hamblen and Bexie DeBord united in marriage December 18, 1919 at the Methodist parsonage in the company of a few relatives by Rev. John E. McCloud.
Warren County Beekeepers Association schedules a meeting for Saturday at 1 00 p m to elect officers for the coming year. All beekeepers in the county are urged to attend. Holiday visits note Raimond and Horace Ringer with families, and several local students return home for the holidays from DePauw University and IU.
Carl A. Rice son of Mrs. Alverda Hickman and Miss Gladlys Weigle daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Weigle were married in Covington Tuesday evening. They will honeymoon in Indianapolis and reside in Attica where Rice works in the automobile business with his father Joseph J. Rice.
Charley Kiger shot and killed a young gray wolf near Kickapoo on Sunday. The wolf weighed 25 pounds and was roughly the size of a small shepherd. Kiger brought the carcass to Attica and sold it to Erik Pearlman, a junk dealer. It is the first wolf seen locally in a long time, with the breed believed extinct in the area. The piece suggests more wolves may remain nearby.

Miss Irene Schlosser, attending college at Jacksonville, Florida, spent Thursday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Schlosser during the holiday vacation.

Bissell, Delaware Red Cross secretary, pitched a Christmas seal to fund a local sanatorium amid a tuberculosis crisis. Two supporters funded forty dollars, launching a sale that exceeded expectations and spurred statewide TB education, with 1907 marking the seal’s birth and 1919 projected as a strong campaign year.
Clair E Day and Elizabeth A Rice were married last Wednesday at the bride’s parents home one mile west of Judyville. Rev W S Houchens officiated with many relatives and friends attending. The groom is a farmer and after a short honeymoon they will reside on the Day farm in Jordan township.
Mrs J L Metsker returns to her home near Indianapolis on Tuesday accompanied by Mrs Peter Lee who will visit there for some time. Miss Nellie Ogle of West Lebanon was in Williamsport Tuesday en route to Attica in the afternoon.
Heirs at law of Miles Odle sue the Odle estate in Danville seeking title to about 242 acres and 240 acres citing verbal contracts with the decedent. Mrs. Odle widow renounces the will to claim one half of personal property and one third of Illinois and Indiana real estate. First suits will be heard at the Vermilion county circuit term in January, with defense by R R Rodman.
The Elkhart Review now lists W G Ross as the newly appointed business manager. The 16 page edition, received here, shows strong advertising throughout and a promising outlook for the paper. Attica visitor Jack Covall was in town Tuesday afternoon.
