Jury returns murder verdict in West Lebanon case

The Danville court room heard Grace Whitman and Martha Holtz convicted of murdering Walter J. Whitman. The jury fixed 14 years for Whitman and 20 years for Holtz after nearly seventy hours of deliberation.

Mrs. Adelia Lawson Dead in California

Adelia Lawson formerly of North Warren died Sunday morning at 7 in her Richmond California home. She was born December 13, 1852 and survived by her husband, two children Ernest Grey and Berda Lawson Paris. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 PM in Richmond cemetery with sympathy offered to Ernest Grey.

Death notice for Barnett O'Kane at 62 in Elgin hospital

Barnett O Kane died December 14 at Elgin State Hospital after surgery for acute peritonitis. He was 62, son of James and Alice O Kane, and had lived with his sister Charlotte at 736 Root Street Chicago. Surviving siblings include Edward who died November 29 and Mary of Hedrick Indiana. Body moved from Sloan Indiana to Hedrick then Dunnington Church for High Mass by Rev Father Beegle and burial in Dunnington Cemetery.

Mrs. D. F. Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Clifton of Covington died at her Covington home Sunday morning at 9. Concert at Presbyterian Church in Williamsport

The Covington orchestra will present a concert at the Presbyterian church in Williamsport on Tuesday evening December 30 with violin soloist Oscar Kaufman. Hunter Kills Young Gray Wolf Near Kickapoo

Charley Kiger shot and killed a young gray wolf near Kickapoo on Sunday. The wolf weighed 25 pounds and was roughly the size of a small shepherd. Kiger brought the carcass to Attica and sold it to Erik Pearlman, a junk dealer. It is the first wolf seen locally in a long time, with the breed believed extinct in the area. The piece suggests more wolves may remain nearby.

New Chapters in Odle Estate Heirs Sue Over Land Titles

Heirs at law of Miles Odle sue the Odle estate in Danville seeking title to about 242 acres and 240 acres citing verbal contracts with the decedent. Mrs. Odle widow renounces the will to claim one half of personal property and one third of Illinois and Indiana real estate. First suits will be heard at the Vermilion county circuit term in January, with defense by R R Rodman.
