Edward Smith escaped from jail in early November while Sheriff Stewart and family rode. He was found Saturday near Danville and returned to jail after reentering via the coal hole. He was later sentenced by Judge Berry to one to eight years and moved to Jeffersonville to serve.
Harrison Davis will case at Warren circuit court has drawn crowds and consumed most of the week with Judge Berry presiding. Three courts ran in one day to handle matters while other cases saw judgments and fines issued including foreclosure and note actions.

Alonzo Stephens and Robert Graves, held in Warren county jail for four weeks, were admitted to bail Monday. Stephens must post 5000 dollars, Graves 500, on arson charges for burning Robert Fix's barn near Ambia on November 5. Stephens faced trial this week but delays from the Davis will case push it to the next court term.
William Fix is freed after a Warren county grand jury investigation finding no involvement in the Nov 5 burning of the Robert Fix barn near Ambia. Graves, who implicated Fix under questioning, offered a theory about motive tied to a denied loan and a threatened demand for 6000 dollars.
W J Jackson receiver for the Chicago and Eastern Illinois rail road announced that at midnight December 31 the Brazil division or Indiana Coal Road would be discontinued under the pending Interstate Commerce Commission process. The main line will be taken over January 1 by a new company, but the Brazil division may still operate or be restructured. Employees have until February 1 1922 to seek C E I service under seniority rules.
Warren county commissioners plan their annual settlement meeting on Tuesday December 27 to close the year by settling all outstanding accounts and handling any other business that may arise.
E Guy Sutton and his son Francis Lee of Indianapolis were guests of relatives over Sunday, sharing time with family during a weekend visit.
Prof Edmond Buckley formerly of Kramer now in Chicago sued A G Broadie for injuries from a fall in Broadie’s store. A sealed verdict awarded Buckley 50 damages with costs on Buckley. The case has been before Covington court since last Thursday. The Town Board sold the 150 horsepower engine and generator from the local light plant to Veedersburg for 1500. The unit cost 4500 and served three years with a 180 kilowatt dynamo. Now that Attica supplies power, Veedersburg officials call it a bargain.
Miss Ruth Olson and Carl Diehl and Miss Esther Olson and William Knowles, all of Attica, wed in Covington on Wednesday at 3 30 p m. The ceremonies were led by Rev Kern of the Methodist church.
The city of Attica petitions Fountain County for permission to lay a conduit under the new Wabash river bridge. It would carry up to 33 000 volts and likely illuminate the bridge after completion, an arrangement seen as a beautifying civic gesture.
Justice T. C. Powell presided as Roy Pinkleton of Collison Illinois and Miss Viola Powell of Marshfield married. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Marion Powell, and the groom is son of Mr and Mrs Roy Pinkleton.
After a night of deliberation the jury found in favor of the plaintiffs in the Harrison Davis will dispute. The court set aside the will and ordered the estate distributed among the heirs according to their shares.
O W Larm Warren county representative on the state board of directors of the State Federation of Farmers is in Indianapolis this week for a meeting of state directors.
Williamsport honors local title holder John Heli for appointment to a high national committee of the American Association of Tithe Men. The Indiana Association of Men notes his successful year as president and pride in the national acknowledgment. Other committee members include C. H. Burdette, S. M. Sparkman Jr, Richard Hall, Chas. A. Haeberle, William Webb, Guy A. Adams.
Marshfield area mourns 3 year old Lewis Everett son of Mr and Mrs David Kiser who died Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness crown and bronchitis were listed as causes. Survived by parents three sisters and a brother. Funeral held Friday at 10 am at Galloway chapel with burial at West Lebanon cemetery.
The Merchants National Bank of Lafayette sues Robert B. Kramer and William C. Kramer in Warren circuit court to foreclose its mortgage on 309.37 acres known as the Hunter farm in Kramer Warren County. The Kramers purchased the property from William A. Hunter.
The Williamsport Auto Station is named an authorized light service station by Secretary of State Ed Jackson. Cars must have lights in compliance with the new law by December 20 or face a fine. License renewals require proof of ownership and can be handled locally at the station.
Frank J Johnson a major landowner in Warren Benton and Tippecanoe counties has made an assignment for the benefit of his creditors. The action aims to settle debts under state law and protect his holdings amid financial pressures.
