Young farm hand dies in Tab fire tragedy
Rex LaBaw, 17, working at Frank Wilber’s farm near Tab, perished in a Saturday morning blaze that trapped him in the Wilber home. Neighbors raised funds for the family while coroner’s inquest and testimonies described the frantic escape of the Wilber family and other workers as fire consumed the building. Funeral services for Rex LaBaw were held at Veedersburg, with burial in Rockfield cemetery. A Warren County Farmers Association meeting debated proposed tax increases, urging oversight and a conference with the State Tax Commission before any changes.

At the Lion Tire and Rubber annual meeting in Lafayette the former employee of the company proposed placing the firm in receivership. Infant dies of twin at hotel arrival
Charline Wilma Mankey three weeks old daughter of Mr and Mrs Warren Mankey died Friday afternoon. She was one of twins that drew attention at the Warren Hotel upon their arrival. Short funeral services were held from the hotel Saturday afternoon and interment followed in Highland Cemetery.

The seventh annual reunion at Green Hill drew a large crowd after Sunday school. Rev A M Snider of Crawfordsville preached a memorable sermon. Charles W. Banning, respected Warren township farmer, died at his Independence area home at 7 AM Monday. He was 35 last November and survived by his wife, four children Ernest Mildred John and a four month old, his parents Mir and Mrs Staten Banning, and siblings Henry, Mrs William Clawson, Mrs Roy Solomon, Mrs Wallace Buck, and Grace. Funeral services will be at the U B church in Independence Tuesday at 2 PM with Rev Snider of Crawfordville officiating. Burial will follow at Armstrong Cemetery near Green Hill with Masonic rites at the grave.

Sol Rector aged about 66 died after a Ford turning over on a curve west of Shawnee bridge near Shawnee creek. Threshing Ring Holds Annual Ice Cream Supper
The Whistler threshing ring in Medina township held its annual ice cream supper at L. J. Wettscheruck’s home last Thursday. About forty members and families attended as they closed the threshing season, settled accounts, and enjoyed fifteen gallons of ice cream and cake before dancing late into the night.
