Death of John D Trott Widely Known Indiana Veterinarian
John Douglas Trott a prominent citizen and longtime veterinarian died at his Williamsport home Sunday Aug 11 1918 after a stroke near Attica He was born Dec 7 1852 in Fountain County and practiced veterinary medicine for over thirty years He married Jennie Starkey May 26 1892 and left five children one grandson and a sister He was active in church and fraternal groups and known for his generous nature Short funeral services were held at his home then at Portland Church Interment followed. Attica faced labor unrest as C C Voight organized workers at the National Car Coupler Co despite opposition from J W Harrison the plant owner and several workers losing their jobs The union effort appears unlikely to stand as of now.

Wattles Car Goes Over Embankment on Main Street Bridge
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Wattles of Oxford drove across Lafayette Main street bridge Saturday night. Wattles mistook the road, veered to avoid another auto, and the car overturned twice, landing right side up with all occupants uninjured and the engine running. One guess at the car type.

A. E. Peebles of Williamsport sustained a cut on the right leg and foot last Thursday while employed at the National Car Culver plant. The injury occurred when a policy breaking while in action struck him. Dr. Sullivan attended him.

Clarence LaTourette reports that his nephew, Covington native and ambulance driver Clarence LaTourette Jr., was killed in action in France on July 31 while assisting in collecting the fallen. Enlisted in 1916 before turning sixteen, the youth joined Field Hospital No 5 and served at the border during the Mexican trouble.
