Major's life saving shot by a wild Indian gunman

In a vivid Civil War era tale, a major recalls a daring ambush where he saved the colonel by shooting a concealed native gunman. He describes the tense moment, his precise aim near the colonel's temple, and the dangerous path to prevent a fatal shot. The story ends with the colonel's praise and a note of two welded bullets as proof of the near-miss.
