Golden Island tale of Robert and the lake of gold
Robert leaves a quiet village seeking work and adventure. He falls for ease aboard a glittering gold island, learns vanity then is captured by masked men. A boatman offers a test of labor burying warriors, then grants three magical trees promising happiness, long life, and prosperity before Robert returns home to plant them in his father’s garden.
