Historic Notes on Flags, Mortuary Law and Ginevra Tale
Long excerpt recounts Captain Samuel Chester Reid and the origin of the US flag along with discussions of 19th century debates on flag design and naval symbolism. It shifts to a French senate episode on burials and mortuary chambers, then retells the Florentine romance of Ginevra who was buried alive and later revealed alive, with subsequent reconciliation. Also included are brief notes on electric developments and naval uses of electricity.
