Four rival cities met at Willard's hotel to agree on a common plan for a World?s fair and to leave site selection to Congress. Senator Farwell said a World?s fair bill would pass within sixty days. A house committee was urged to announce its appointment before adjournment, with thirteen members. A motion sought to have four city representatives meet Speaker Reed to push a report on the revolution to create a subcommittee. In the Senate, a joint resolution extending the national inauguration conference deadline to late March 1800 was reported and passed. A postmaster cost request on tree delivery to towns of 3,000 inhabitants was agreed to. A reward of 5,000 to Silcott for delivering to the marshal of the District of Columbia was adopted.
