At 405 East Douglas Avenue Wichita a liberal giveaway scheme hands out nine gold watches thirteen silver watches two diamond studs and more as customers buy for 85 or more. Prizes replenish as items are drawn and winners include J. E. Alison Burron M Wees and W. E. Lawrence among others.
President Harrian nominates Justice David B Brewer of Kansas for associate justice of the U S Supreme Court aged about fifty and a Smyrna-born son of missionary Josiah Brewer The nomination follows praise from Justices Miller and others and horizons of a busy Senate session with many bills and western matters noted including postmasters and patents for Kansas firms.

Speakers urged support for statehood and the welfare of about thirty thousand residents as they discussed local concerns and the county’s future development.
The Butler incident left Deputy U. S. Marshal J. Willis and Pierce Morgan dead after a failed arrest attempt. Morgan, notorious, charged Willis with a warrant when he drew a revolver as Willis fired, Morgan returned fire, both were killed. The confrontation follows longstanding feuds, with Morgan’s friends seeking retaliation.
