Bank Vault Robbers Foiled by Vigilant Sheriff and Mexican Deputy
Edward Raff recounts a bank burglary tale from a Gowr Shing town where two robbers tunneled into a vault. Axtell, the sheriff, and deputies organized a night siege, trapping the criminals, and a Mexican deputy Chavez shot one man in the tunnel. The sole survivor fled, while authorities recovered the body and found a mason among the suspects. The bank directors rewarded the narrator with a bicycle bearing a silver plate for his part in the event.
