The women of the First Presbyterian Church will hold a two Saturday rummage sale on September 17 and 24 in the building west of the C. J. Meador store. Lots of bargains.
Bethel Home Demonstration Club met at Mrs. Dorothy Vandagriff's home for an all day meeting with five members and three guests present. Miss Zelma Moore spoke on better lighting in the kitchen and a covered dish lunch was served. Next meeting planned at Mrs. L. L. Wendell's home on Sept 22. All members urged to attend.
Birthday celebration for Judy Gosnell held September 11 at her grandparents home hosted by Mrs. James Gosnell. Sarah Stephens Patty Badgett DeAnna Alexander and Karen Ann Darwin attended a group event with games and photos. Cake ice cream and candy were served. Favors included balloons whistles and gum. A nominating committee for new officers was appointed including Miss Viva Phillips, Mrs. Ralph Wallace, and Mrs. Carl May. Refreshments served to 11 members and five guests.

Rotary Club program chair Clay Horton presided Friday as Sam Montgomery WHL football coach spoke on football and the Tigers outlook for the coming season without predicting an undefeated record.
The boys show strength in district play promising a championship race. Musical numbers featured Miss Janis Horton and Mrs. Margaret Melton. Horton, longtime club pianist, resigned to take a Sherman public schools post and received a radio from the club. Melton elected to succeed Horton.
Mrs Don Newman celebrated her recent marriage with a formal tea Friday afternoon from 3 30 to 5 30 o clock. All white decorations featured sweet heart roses white caravations and crystal tapers. Ninety three guests attended including Mrs Summers the hostess and out of town visitors from Sherman Fort Worth Tren ton Dallas Fairfax Virginia and San Antonio.
A White House caller said President Truman is confident Congress will pass a federal aid to education bill. Dr Andrew D Holt president of the National Education Association presented an engrossed resolution thanking him for his efforts in support of federal aid to schools.
