Cotton Receipts Rise as Gins Work Overtime
Cotton arrivals surge with three gins running nearly all night. By Wednesday night 27 bales waited to be ginned and total receipts reached 5,165 bales, close to last season’s total, with prices rising daily since the government report. Ordinary seed cotton at $10, pedigreed at $11.50, lint around 26.65 to 27.25, seed at $48 per ton.

Hold up gang stranded family turns to sheriff near Sherman
Sherman on Sept 10 reports say a touring car loaded with a family was halted by hold up men north of Sherman. The sheriff urged the family to Denison and provided directions after an unhelpful response from passing motorists.

Sherman Sept 10 The two year old special law banning dove killing in Grayson County was ruled null and void by the County Court for lack of public notice and no clear penalty. The ruling came on a test case after Fritz Hays of Denison used a dove killing incident to challenge the statute.

Mrs Jane Homer Oram dies at 102 in Denison
Mrs. Jane Homer Oram, said to be 102, died at her Denison home Tuesday. She was mother to eleven children and had fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Born in Barnwell district South Carolina she moved to Jefferson Texas in 1852 and received honors for her long life. Mrs George Gowdy and her daughter returned Tuesday from Weatherford and Mineral Wells after a two week visit.

Harding Memorial Stamps Arrive and Go on Sale
Assistant Postmaster Beveridge Brents displays ten Harding Memorial stamps received from Marion Ohio the late President's hometown where the first consignment will be sent. Washington reports a three month shift from George Washington to Harding on the 2 cent denomination with waivers to print the memorial issue. The first sheet was shown to Mrs Harding as a mounted die proof. Initial order is 300 million stamps bearing the late president's copper plate portrait with 1865 and 1923 dates and a black edge, distinct from the McKinley stamp.

Robbery duo held at Sherman in Preston Bend incident
A. J. Moore and Doc Taylor were jailed in Sherman after capture at Durant for robbery with firearms. First Gin Fire Alarm Reported Wednesday Morning
The Farmers Union Gin Co plant reported the season's first gin fire around 8 o'clock Wednesday morning. Smoke appeared at the top of a cotton warehouse, and the fire was controlled before the city fire department arrived. Damage to seed cotton and equipment amounted to several hundred dollars. A later alarm from Planters Gin Co at 5:30 pm reported no damage.

The three act pay Sunshine was shown at the grammar school auditorium last Friday by the high school class of 724 under Miss Gladys Ray. Funds from the show will print the school annual. It also played at Bells Tuesday. Jack Spindle left for Thorp Springs after visiting his parents and may attend the Thorp Springs Christian College to coach football or return to the University of Texas.

Death of Tom L. Hansard in Howe area
Tom L. Hansard died at his home Wednesday afternoon after a year of ill health with paralysis listed as the direct cause. Born March 3, 1848 in Missouri, he came to Texas in 1875 and lived near Howe before relocating. He served in the Union Army at age fourteen and was wounded. Survived by a wife, seven children and several grandchildren, with funeral at 2:30 pm at Wittitee Cemetery conducted by Rev. J. A. Dickey.
