Thomas E. Riddle, 102 year old Confederate veteran living in Wichita Falls, files for divorce from his wife claiming cruel treatment since their September 12 1938 marriage in Sunset Texas. No children were born to the couple.

Robert L. Rowell age 20 was fatally shot about 4 a.m. Monday at a friend's home near Forney in Kaufman County. A female occupant of the house was charged with murder with bond set at 2000 dollars. Rowell died en route to a Terrell hospital after being shot once in the right side with a .22 rifle. He had lived with his mother in Greenville and previously worked for the REA. He was born in Whitewright September 25, 1928. Surviving relatives include his mother Mrs. Y. B. Akins and his father B. D. Rowell.

New York. The late Maj. Edward J Bowes, radio amateur hour conductor, left an estate of $3 641 112. The surrogate's court appraisal shows a St Patrick's Cathedral bequest growing from $2 400 000 to $2 874 765 since his death in June 1946, the cause of increase not explained.
