Foot and Mouth Disease Found Near Alvin Texas
An outbreak of foot and mouth disease was found today in 300 cattle owned by J. M. Tacquard on a Brazoria County ranch three miles north of Alvin. Burns Prove Fatal To Kidd-Key Girl
Catherine J. Merrick, 21, died at 8 45 a m Sunday from burns suffered Saturday morning at Kidd-Key College in Sherman. She was rehearsing a dance in a light cotton costume that ignited on an open gas stove. Companions extinguished the blaze but she had been severely burned on her back. The body was shipped to Waco for burial.

Bonham, Oct 28. A boy named Ledbetter and a bulky small automobile staged a comic scene on the public square. While a rear wheel was jacked, the jack slipped and the car darted toward a furniture store. It shattered one plate glass window before an iron column halted the rampage.

Cotton Exhibit Sells For Hundred Dollars
C E Haws of route five sold the Mebane cotton exhibit in the west window of the Cotton Exchange to J R Oliver for 100 dollars. The display included three stalks ten open bolls and ten pounds of seed cotton grown west of town and exhibited at the Red River Valley Fair at Sherman where it won first prize. Oliver plans to use the exhibit for advertising. this was the highest price paid locally for such a small display. Haws also earned 20 dollars in prizes totaling 120 dollars, about ten dollars per pound, as Whitewright gains statewide reputation for cotton seed quality.
