North East Division Wins CPS Manager's Trophy Again
Clint C. Hennig North East Division manager of Community Public Service received the silver trophy at the annual victory dinner at the Holiday Inn in Sherman. The award marks a second straight division victory as seven divisions vie across seven objectives including kilowatt hours residential and commercial, collections, night liter sales, all electric homes, thrift plan participation, and accident reduction. Hennig noted his division’s strong showing in 1971 and 1972, with aims for a third consecutive title. Present were R. L. Bowen board chairman, L. Cook CPS president, vice presidents, department heads, about 160 attendees including staff from local and division offices, excluding Jackie Howell and Mrs. Ethel White.

Whitewright remains undefeated at seven wins, no losses after a 24-0 win over Leonard. Ballard opened scoring with a 35 yard run in the first quarter, Spann added 12 unanswered points in the second half, and Atterberry plus Smith sealed the win with a pick and a 7 yard TD. Defensive standout Harvey Rice and teammates held Leonard to 94 total yards and never crossed Whitewright’s 30 yard line. Next stop Pottsboro with seventh and eighth grade games scheduled at Tiger Field.

First Baptist Church will begin a TV church ministry on November 5, televising the 11 a.m. worship service on Channel 2. Pastor Rev. Douglas Rymer says the aim is to enlarge ministry to the sick, shutins, and aged unable to attend, with a local church origin felt by viewers.

Junior Varsity Tigers Triumph Over Allen 18-13
The Junior Varsity team beat Allen 18-13 with Mike Blanton scoring four first quarter touchdowns after passes from David Caraway and Shadrick Ball. Jay Jackson added a 70 yard run in the third. Tony Geers forced a fumble for a late Tigers TD. Pettit missed due to injury. defense praised. Coach Capps credited.
