Methodist Pastor Attends Dallas Conference To Begin New Year

A WPA funded recreation program led by Miss Pauline Magers operates at the Grammar School. The initiative funds athletics music clubs dramatics arts and crafts and free play for all ages. The playground opens daily 1 to 6 pm weekdays and Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm and 1 to 5 pm with community night programs and craft classes planned.

Texas Federation of Labor delegates opened their annual meeting in Galveston criticizing Gov. W Lee O Daniel for handling the social security issue and old age pensions. Harry W Acreman charged the governor has taken $6 a month from the needy while offering Sundays speeches. Delegates opposed a sales tax and favored financing pensions through natural resource taxes.
