Whitewright High School sets November 2 for homecoming and the WHS-Van Alstyne football clash. Senior Class barbecue runs 5 to 7 pm in the lunchroom with tickets at 1.00 for adults and 0.65 for under 12. Ex-students invited.
Whitewright children will join the UNICEF Trick or Treat program on Halloween eve to raise funds for children in 100 countries. The event, organized by the Woman's Society of Christian Service at First Methodist Church, starts at 6 p.m. with identification stickers issued and zone divisions to limit visits.
In San Rafael California Maury Guy a food mart owner says a customer received $5 465 by mistake and should return it after placing it in a deposit bag by the check stand. He reported the loss to police after the bag vanished during a busy shopping period.

He worked for the City of Whitewright since 1918 and was water superintendent. Surviving: son Raymond Cates Brady. daughter Opal Hughes Whitewright. two brothers Rev R L Cates Bonham and A J Cates Waco. five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Ray H. Goren 64 died Friday night in Bonham VA hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday in Van Alstyne with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. World War I veteran previously ran a Lewisville business and was born November 9, 1897 in Illinois. Survived by half-brother Royce Lay of Whitewright, two half sisters Mardell Pumphrey of Whitewright and Mrs. Tom Norris of Dallas, plus several nieces and nephews.
Andrew E. Humphrey 79 of Coolidge Arizona died recently. A former Whitewright resident born in Mansfield Missouri he lived in Coolidge 22 years and was a retired employee of the Arizona Highway Department. Survived by five sons a daughter Hazel Mayo three brothers a sister 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
