A Boston surgeon told a conference that chest X rays used to detect tuberculosis can uncover early lung cancers. He noted 40 percent of shadows not due to TB or other issues were cancers. Mass X ray surveys could help test and follow up suspected cases, potentially lowering cancer deaths.
