Our Defense Coast Artillery Guards Harbors With Air Gun Shield

The Coast Artillery backs the Navy with harbor defense and anti aircraft units. Some regiments operate fixed guns in coastal fortifications, others move big calibers by rail or road to scout harbors without fixed guns. They use wind, temperature, curvature, and rotation in seconds to predict ship paths, aided by observation posts, plotting rooms, searchlights, and comms. Nineteen continental harbors host permanent installations with more under construction as mobile units prepare to meet front line needs.

Coast Artillery Weapons and Defense System Overview

The Coast Artillery employs long range 12 14 and 16 inch guns for harbor defense capable of firing armor piercing shells over 20 miles. There are 6 8 10 inch guns and 12 inch mortars for smaller ships, rapid fire 6 inch guns for minefields and torpedo boats, a 155 mm gun on motor-drawn units, and railway units with 8 14 inch guns and 12 inch mortars. Submarine mines lay fields explodable from shore. Coastal defenses use target location systems for sea threats, with shells taking about half a minute to reach moving ships. Anti aircraft units rely on fast motorized guns to track fast planes up to four miles altitude, soon replacing the 3 inch with the 90 mm gun for higher fire, while shells fuse to burst at enemy aircraft altitude.
