Postal Service Change Combines Whitewright and Trenton Rural Routes

Local postmasters John Biggerstaff and Billy Dockery announce that starting Nov 1, 1969, Whitewright and Trenton rural routes will be combined. Three routes will be served by two carriers, improving arrival times while maintaining box addresses and stamp sales at each office. An open horse show by the Whitewright Riding Club is planned for Oct 26 at the C P Dawson Arena.

Wheat allotment cut to 12 percent for 1970 by USDA

Secretary of Agriculture Clifford Hardin announced the 1970 wheat program reduces the national acreage allotment to 45.5 million acres from 51.6 million in 1969 to strengthen U S share of world trade as large crops and self sufficiency curb exports. Other features include unchanged loan rate of 125 per bushel and options to divert acres and substitute crops. Grayson County Commissioners approved treasurer's report and October bills, and authorized buried lines for Southwest Bell in precincts 1 and 3.

Whitewright Council Calls Bond Election for Sewer Project

City Hall action calls a November 4 election to authorize 100000 in revenue and general obligation bonds to fund a new sanitary sewer system.
