Farm Loans To Be Fixed At Four Percent Rate
The Farm Credit Administration says its 12 Federal Land Banks will shift all outstanding farm loans to a four percent interest rate next June 30. Early loans ran as high as six percent, but subsidies since 1933 kept charges at three percent. Senate approves Bailey-Clark draft to defer fathers and aid dependents
The Senate passed 69 to 0 a substitute measure restricting industrial and government deferments and boosting servicemen plans to $80 a month for a wife and one child. It rejects Wheeler father deferment as harming Allied strategy. The plan would curb federal hiring for draft eligibles and require boards to review deferments, with non fathers inducted before fathers where possible.
