The Defense Department announced a January draft call of 34,000, nearly twice December’s 18,200. Officials expect monthly calls to average about 30,000 through 1968, as the Army replaces earlier draftees from its Southeast Asia buildup. Most 1968 draftees will be single men aged 19 to 26, not students, with terms ending in 1968.

Attendees shared Thanksgiving plans heard travel tales learned the secretary's report and enjoyed Bible quiz songs. The prize two small oil lamps went to Mrs. Ralph McKinney. The next meeting will be at Mrs Ray Vestal’s home for a Christmas event with gifts under $1 and sweets. all interested women are invited.
The Baptist Fidelis Class met November 16 at 7 p m in the church dining room for a covered dish supper. Mrs. C J Meador gave opening prayer, Mrs Jim Grider presided, and guest speaker Mrs W L Hatfield delivered a Thanksgiving devotional. A business session followed.
