The Whitewright Tigers clinched the District 15 A title by defeating the Bells Panthers 42 to 0. Quarterback Jimmy Spann connected on a scoring play after the opening kickoff, with Mar on the receiving end on the first play from scrimmage.
Sixteen Chamber of Commerce members met for a noon session with Vince Freeman presiding. The group discussed the Miss Whitewright Pageant, Christmas Parade December 2, and weekly December drawings offering cash prizes. tickets will be collected through Thanksgiving week with marshals J. Philpot and Robert Sale guiding events.
District 15-A coaches named Whitewright players to the offensive and defensive first teams. End Steve Fortner and tackle Victor Daniels headline Whitewright honorees along with quarterback Jimmy Spann and running back Marvin Arterberry. Also named are defensive standouts Rodney Rice and Ricky Ross, with Bells and Leonard sharing several picks and the Whitewright coaching staff chosen as best in the district.
Dr. Steve Sullivan invites Pigskin Club members and fans to a 7 30 p m meeting at Fireman's Hall to back the Tigers in Bi District play. Drill team and cheerleaders will canvas Saturday placing bumper stickers on cars for the McKinney game on Thursday November 24.
Whitewright Nursing Home held its regular monthly party honoring residents with October and November birthdays. The Whitewright Home Demonstration Club assisted, with Mrs. Omatine Spencer welcoming guests and introducing the honorees.
Vince Freeman serves as president and announces Second Monday gatherings each month in Firemen's Hall as a regular business meeting for members.
