Mud and rain bring first frost to Whitewright area
The weekend rain totaled about 1.125 to 1.5 inches in area gauges, soaking only the topsoil. Farmers report wetting plowed ground to 3 or 4 inches, enough to help sprout wheat if more rain comes. A norther and the season's first killing frost followed Sunday night.
