M. B. Beacham, 19, of CCC Camp Stanley was admitted to Fort Sam Houston hospital with life threatening injuries after a fight at Camp Stanley. A Sherman youth was arrested and booked for transfer to the Department of Justice.
Johnny Morrow, the Texas A&M end known for vowing to grow his hair until the Cadets loss, got two haircuts after an 18-0 defeat by Arkansas. A trimming party at College Station raised funds from wives of two coaches and supporters, with Warden contributing 50 cents for a haircut.
Examination of John Hurt’s vagrancy arrest in Pittsburg Pennsylvania showed a surprising clothing haul. Police found 12 underwear sets 8 pairs of socks 15 shirts 8 pants and 11 coats on or near him.
Mrs. Dero Austin 66 of Southmayd died Monday at her daughter’s Sherman home after a short illness. Funeral at the Ricketts home conducted by Dr. J. A. Ellis and Rev. E. E. Badgett. Born May 10, 1870 in North Carolina, she had lived in Southmayd six years and was active in the Baptist Church. Survived by husband, daughter, foster son, six brothers and two sisters. Andrew Montgomery died Thursday at his father’s home. Funeral at the Presbyterian Church with services by Dr. B. Wrenn Webb and Dr. J. F. Fender. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by father, three brothers and four sisters.
Abilene residents attended the funeral for H G Bradshaw with numerous relatives and friends from out of town present to pay their respects.
Funeral services for Mrs Elizabeth H Pope wife of the late G W Pope were held at the Central Christian Church at 2 pm on Wednesday. She died Tuesday night after a short illness and was interred at Wittitoe Cemetery. Surviving children include Ida Hudspeth Fort Worth R H Jay Fort Worth R P Gordon Austin T E Montgomery Clovis and C W Pope. She lived in Grayson County for 84 years and witnessed Whitewright’s growth from pioneer times.
