Pittsburgh Pa May 28 three congregations Baptist Christian and Presbyterian plan to merge into a single interdenominational church. Outdoor union meetings last summer led to committees settling doctrinal differences including baptism and communion practices. Communion cadence to be harmonized likely every two weeks or monthly.
W R Foster of Trenton sells the northwest part of town residence to M T Craig. The new owner will move in soon and make Whitewright a permanent home for the Craig family. The community welcomes their arrival and settlement.
Renton Tunnah of Memphis Tennessee, visiting his sister Mrs Hayes in Whitewright, was in Sherman Thursday. Recently discharged from the army after a year of service, he is the composer of the popular song Pray for the Lights to Go Out. He plans to return to Memphis Saturday to resume his former position with the Phoenix Cotton Oil Co.
The War Department surplus 20000 motor trucks valued at over 45 million dollars will be distributed by the Secretary of Agriculture through the Bureau of Public Roads to state highway departments. Trucks range 2 to 5 tons, mostly new, some used, all serviceable. States pay loading and freight charges and distribution follows 1916 Federal aid apportionment rules. Trucks go to states only, not counties or individuals.
Dr. Charles M. Clark leads Southwestern Division representatives at Newport News to greet returnees from war ships. State reception parks feature courts of honor with each state flag. Red Cross assists reunions, offers financial help, and provides home-town newspapers.
The W. O. W. unveiling scheduled for last Sunday was delayed due to heavy rain Saturday. It will be held next Sunday afternoon with the same program as announced previously. Council Commander.

Notice to all members of Grayson County Texas military services. A county meeting will be held June 4 at 8:30 PM in Sherman courthouse to form a permanent World War veterans organization and elect officers. Eligible are those who served between April 5 1917 and November 11 1918. Cites plans to seek a charter from the State organization and to send delegates to the Minneapolis American Legion convention. Attendees urged to wear uniform and bring discharge papers. signatories include Abner L Lewis Palmer Leeper Roy Finley L Baker.
The 1918 farm crop value tops 11 billion dollars, the highest in U S history. Compared with 1917, the gain reaches about 460 million, with corn wheat oats barley and rye totaling over 6.865 billion, up 200 million. Output in bushels shows wheat at 915 million, surpassed only by 1915.
War Department announces that most of the 36th Division units are diverted from Brest to Newport News Virginia and New York arrivals are planned. The 143d Infantry with 94 officers and 3100 men along with the 111th Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop sail on the Finland. Graf Waldersee carries the 142d Infantry medical detachment battalions to New York. 141st Infantry troops and divisional units are to arrive on the Troy in New York June 3, completing the division's disposition.
Grayson county commissioners acting as a board of equalization report no change in the tax levy from the previous year. The total levy remains 55 cents, distributed as 25 cents General fund 15 cents Road and bridge fund 14 cents good roads interest and sinking fund 1 cent Bridge repair fund and no levy for the jury fund.
The Bethel community singers have arranged a program for next Sunday at 2 30 PM in Bethel church. The event features mainly elderly local singers with a quartet from Van Alstyne. All who enjoy good singing are invited to attend.
